Year 11 students of Sekolah Global Mandiri Jakarta participated in a Live-In Program held in Thekelan Hamlet, located on the slopes of Mount Merbabu, Central Java, from January 24 to 31, 2026. This program aimed to provide students with meaningful life experiences outside the classroom.

The Live-In Program was designed to help students learn directly from the local community. By living with villagers, students experienced daily routines, local traditions, and simple lifestyles that taught them the values of gratitude, independence, and responsibility.

During the program, students took part in various community activities such as farming, cleaning the village area, helping residents, and participating in cultural events. These activities allowed students to build empathy and respect for others.

Students also learned about teamwork and leadership as they worked together to complete daily tasks. The program encouraged them to step out of their comfort zones and grow both personally and socially.

In the evenings, reflection sessions were held where students shared their experiences, challenges, and lessons learned. These moments helped them understand the importance of humility, cooperation, and perseverance.

Through this Live-In Program, students gained a deeper appreciation for community life and nature. The beautiful environment of Mount Merbabu added to the meaningful and memorable experience.

The Live-In Program ended with heartfelt farewells between students and host families. It became a life-changing journey that strengthened students’ character and social awareness.
