ECO-PRINT: Biogreen Co-Curricular Project at Junior High Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur
Junior High Level of Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur has commitment to delivering meaningful and sustainable learning experiences, Junior High level held Biogreen Co-Curricular Project featuring the theme “Eco-Print”. This project serves as a contextual learning activity designed to nurture students’ environmental awareness through hands-on, eco-friendly practices.
The Biogreen Project integrates sustainability values, creativity, and local wisdom by using the ecoprint technique as a primary learning medium. Throughout the activity, students were introduced to various natural materials around them, such as leaves, flowers, and other plant varieties to be used as natural dyes for fabric and other media.
Through the ecoprint process, students not only learned about reducing chemical waste and recycling, but also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting ecosystems and biodiversity. The entire series of activities was carried out in an active and participatory manner—from learning the basic concepts of biogreen, collecting natural materials, processing and printing the motifs, to reflecting on their finished works.
Beyond fostering environmental awareness, this project was also designed to develop essential 21st century skills. Students worked in groups, discussed ideas, collaborated, and took responsibility for both the process and their final creations. These activities strengthened their creative thinking, critical reasoning, and collaborative problem solving skills.
The Biogreen Co-Curricular Project aligns closely with the development of the Profil Pelajar Pancasila, particularly in the dimensions of collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and environmental stewardship. Through this learning experience, students are not only encouraged to produce aesthetically meaningful works but also to embrace sustainable living principles in their daily lives.
With the Eco-Print initiative, Junior High Sekolah Global Mandiri continues efforts to cultivate a young generation that environmentally conscious, creative, and ready to become agents of change for a greener future. (FOS)
