Primary Students’ Field Trip to the South Sumatra Provincial Library
As part of an effort to foster a love of reading and strengthen literacy skills from an early age, Primary students of Global Mandiri Palembang School participated in an educational field trip to the South Sumatra Provincial Library. This activity provided students with meaningful learning experiences outside the classroom in a fun and engaging way.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by the library staff, who explained the functions of the library, library rules, and how to properly use and take care of the book collections. The students were then guided on a tour of the library, exploring various areas such as the children’s reading room, storybook collections, educational books, and the digital literacy corner.
The students showed great enthusiasm as they read their chosen books and took part in a shared reading session. This activity helped develop their reading skills while nurturing a genuine interest in books and learning. The comfortable and well-organized library environment encouraged students to explore knowledge with curiosity and excitement.
Through this field trip, Global Mandiri Palembang School hopes to instill an appreciation for libraries as valuable sources of knowledge and to encourage lifelong reading habits among students. This visit became a memorable learning experience that supported the students’ character development, curiosity, and love for literacy.
