Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur Hosts the 5th IICF Workshop with Delegates from 13 Countries for the Third Time
Cibubur, September 15, 2026 – Sekolah Global Mandiri (SGM) Cibubur has once again been entrusted to host the 5th International Intercultural Friendship (IICF) activities, marking the third time the school has served as a host. This year’s program featured a cultural exchange workshop that brought together SGM students and delegates from various countries.
Held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the event provided a special opportunity for the entire Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur community to learn about and directly engage with cultural diversity from around the world.
The 5th IICF featured delegates from 12 countries and one province in Indonesia, namely Poland, the Philippines, Thailand, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, the United States, Bangladesh, Russia, Türkiye, India, Malaysia, Korea, and South Sulawesi.
The event involved all students of Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur, from Kindergarten through Senior High School, as well as teachers and staff, parents, Class Moms (CM), and the Parents Advisory Board (PAB) of Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur.
Cultural Performances Across Three School Levels
The series of activities began with cultural performances held simultaneously at three locations across the Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur.
For Kindergarten and Elementary School, the activities took place at the Function Hall in Building 1. Meanwhile, Junior High School students participated in the Bioskop, while Senior High School students gathered at the Hall in Building 3.
The IICF delegates presented various artistic performances and cultural traditions from their respective countries. SGM students also showcased Indonesian culture through traditional dances and songs.
These performances provided students with an opportunity to showcase the richness of Indonesian culture while warmly welcoming the international guests.
Cultural Exchange Workshop
Following the performances, the event continued with a cultural exchange workshop involving IICF delegates and students of Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur.
The workshops were held at different locations according to each school level. Kindergarten and Elementary School students participated in the Share Area on the first and second floors of Building 2. Junior High School students participated in Building 3 on the first and second floors, while Senior High School students took part in the workshop in their classrooms.
During the workshop, the delegates introduced folk dance movements representing the cultures of their respective countries. Meanwhile, SGM students introduced various aspects of Indonesian culture through traditional snacks, Indonesian coffee, and tea.
For approximately two hours, students and delegates interacted directly with one another. They introduced their cultures, engaged in conversations, participated in various activities, and learned more about the diversity represented by each country.
For the students, this activity offered a different kind of learning experience. Rather than learning about culture only through books or classroom lessons, they had the opportunity to meet, communicate, and learn directly from guests from different countries.
Enthusiasm from the Entire SGM Community
The success and excitement of the 5th IICF at Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur were supported by the enthusiasm of the entire school community.
Students prepared various cultural performances, traditional songs and dances, as well as Indonesian culinary offerings to welcome the delegates. Parents, Class Moms, Parents Advisory Board members, teachers, and staff also contributed to the preparation and implementation of the event.
One of the most exciting moments was the flash mob, which involved all participants. The flash mob featured music and movements combining elements of traditional Indonesian dance with hipdut (hip-hop dangdut), a musical style that is currently popular.
The activity created an atmosphere filled with joy while demonstrating how cultural diversity can become a space for building friendship and togetherness.
Learning Through Cultural Diversity
The hosting of the 5th IICF at Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur was not merely a cultural performance event. It was also a learning experience designed to broaden students’ perspectives.
Through their interactions with the delegates, students had the opportunity to learn about different cultures, traditions, arts, foods, and ways of life from other countries. At the same time, students also learned to introduce Indonesia’s identity and cultural richness to the international community.
Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur hopes that this experience will provide all IICF delegates with meaningful and memorable moments during their time in Indonesia, particularly in experiencing Indonesian culture and the warmth and hospitality of its people.
For SGM students, the event is expected to become a valuable experience in understanding global cultural diversity, developing openness toward differences, building confidence in interacting with the international community, and enriching their learning experiences. By once again serving as the host for the third time, Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur continues to provide learning opportunities that connect students with the wider world—because learning about diversity does not only take place in the classroom, but also through encounters, experiences, and friendships across cultures.
