Book Week Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur : Discover the Beauty of Indonesian Folktales
Primary level of Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur held annual Book Week with the theme “Discover the Beauty of Indonesian Folktales” as part of the school’s ongoing commitment to fostering a strong literacy culture. The event involved all students from Grades 1 to 6 and was filled with energy, excitement, and a genuine love for reading.

Designed to nurture students’ interest in books, Book Week also served as a platform to introduce the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia through its diverse collection of folktales. These traditional stories rooted in local wisdom, moral values, and character lessons helped students gain a deeper appreciation for the nation’s cultural identity.
Throughout the week, students participated in a variety of engaging literacy activities, including silent reading, storytelling sessions, creating giant book covers, crafting mini books, and buddy reading. Each activity was designed to be interactive and collaborative, allowing students to learn in ways that were both enjoyable and inspiring.

One of the highlights of the event was the cross-grade interaction during buddy reading, where upper-grade students had the opportunity to accompany and read with younger students. This not only created a warm and supportive learning atmosphere but also encouraged responsibility, empathy, and leadership.

Through Book Week, the school hopes that students will not only develop a stronger interest in reading but also enhance their creativity, confidence, and communication skills. The program reflects Sekolah Global Mandiri Cibubur commitment to nurturing a literate, creative generation that takes pride in Indonesia’s cultural heritage. With its vibrant spirit of literacy, Book Week stands as a meaningful step toward building a positive and sustainable reading culture within the school community. (FOS)
