Chinese New Year 2026 Celebration: “Ignite a Fire Horse” Full of Spirit and Togetherness

In celebration of Chinese New Year 2026, Sekolah Global Mandiri Palembang held a joyful and meaningful event themed “Ignite a Fire Horse”, presented through a Social Study Lesson. The celebration involved Kindergarten (Pre-Primary) and Primary students in a series of educational and entertaining activities.

The year 2026 marks the Year of the Fire Horse, symbolizing energy, courage, passion, and strong determination to achieve success. Through this celebration, students were introduced to the meaning and traditions of Chinese New Year as part of Indonesia’s rich cultural diversity. The event also aimed to instill values of tolerance, respect, and unity among students.

The program began with an explanation about the history and traditions of Chinese New Year, including the significance of the color red as a symbol of good fortune, the greeting “Gong Xi Fa Cai,” and the meaning of the Fire Horse zodiac. Students listened attentively and showed great enthusiasm during the session.

The atmosphere became even more exciting during the interactive quiz session. Kindergarten and Primary students eagerly raised their hands to answer questions about Chinese New Year traditions. This activity not only tested their understanding but also helped build their confidence and courage to speak in front of others.

The celebration was further enlivened by wonderful student performances. Kindergarten students confidently appeared in beautiful red-themed outfits, while Primary students showcased their creativity and teamwork through special performances they had prepared.

One of the most anticipated highlights was the lion dance performance presented by the students. Wearing colorful lion dance costumes, they performed energetic and lively movements that received enthusiastic applause from the audience. This performance reflected the bravery and spirit of the Fire Horse year.

The event concluded with a group photo session involving students and teachers, capturing a memorable moment of togetherness and joy. Smiles filled the day, reflecting the happiness and unity shared throughout the celebration.

Through this event, students not only learned about cultural traditions but also strengthened their appreciation for diversity while developing confidence, courage, and enthusiasm to achieve their dreams.
